Who We Are
Canyon Crest Woodworks creates architectural objects from solid hardwood — built to last and meant to be used.
Each piece is designed with restraint and intention. Form comes first. Weight matters. Ornament is secondary to proportion and balance.
Our work is produced in small batches and finished by hand in the Canyon Crest workshop in Mission Viejo, California. Natural variation in grain and tone is not corrected or concealed — it is part of the object.
These are not decorative accessories. They are functional objects designed to remain visible, age honestly, and hold their place over time.
Canyon Crest Woodworks is built on the belief that everyday objects deserve the same care and permanence as furniture or architecture.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Each piece begins with solid American black walnut. No two boards share the same grain, color, or character.
Variations in tone, figure, and engraving depth are natural and expected. Laser engraving on walnut is as much art as science, and the organic structure of the wood often produces beautifully unpredictable results.
These variations are not defects. They are part of what makes each piece unique.
The Workshop
Canyon Crest Woodworks is operated by Harold Epps in Mission Viejo, California.
The workshop focuses on creating walnut artifacts that combine traditional woodworking with modern engraving techniques. Many pieces begin as commissions for organizations, clubs, and collectors who want an object that reflects a shared story or tradition.
Each piece is designed, engraved, and finished in the Canyon Crest workshop.
