Some projects are more than a commission.

Some traditions are worth protecting.

For a group of five doctors, that tradition is an annual journey to Spruce Island Camp on Lake of the Woods. No matter where life or their careers take them, they return each year to fish for muskie, share stories, and strengthen a friendship that's lasted for decades.

This Legacy Ashtray was created to honor that tradition.

Starting with solid black walnut, I machined the octagonal form, engraved the legendary muskie, and added hand-fit brass inlays, one piece at a time. The piece was finished with Rubio Monocoat to enhance the walnut's natural beauty while providing lasting protection.

Turn it over, and the story continues. The reverse features the night sky exactly as it appears above Spruce Island Camp, created using the island's precise coordinates. It's the same sky these friends have gathered beneath after countless days on the water.
