Harbor Sentinel – No. 001
Bespoke Commission Piece
Individually crafted and numbered in the Canyon Crest workshop.
Designed and handcrafted for the Harbor Division, this inaugural Sentinel establishes the foundation for an ongoing limited series.
The octagonal form symbolizes stability and vigilance. Deep laser engraving captures the working harbor — cranes, ships, refineries, and shoreline industry — surrounding a central brass-framed badge medallion.
Solid walnut construction, recessed brass saddle rests, and layered relief engraving create a piece that functions as both ceremonial object and heirloom accessory.
Each Harbor Sentinel is individually signed and numbered.
No. 001 inaugurates Series I.
Solid walnut tabletop object
The Sentinel is a compact walnut form designed to anchor a desk, shelf, or personal space. It’s not decorative clutter and it’s not a novelty piece. It exists to add weight, presence, and intention to its surroundings.
Machined from solid American black walnut, the form is simple, balanced, and deliberately restrained. The geometry is precise, the finish is warm, and the object is meant to be handled and kept.
Solid American black walnut
Clean geometric form
Hand-finished surface
Designed for desks, shelves, and personal spaces
Made in California
Each piece shows natural variation in grain and tone. That variation is intentional.
The Sentinel works as:
A desk anchor
A shelf object
A personal marker within a workspace
It does not require explanation. It simply holds its place.
Materials & Craftsmanship
Each piece is made from solid walnut, and no two boards share the same grain, color, or character. Variations in tone, figure, and engraving depth are natural and expected. Laser engraving on walnut is as much art as science, and the organic structure of the wood can produce beautifully unpredictable results. These variations are not defects, but part of what makes each piece one of a kind.
